Meet Zu
Hi, my name is Zurancke, but everyone calls me Zu.
My love for fashion started from a very young age as the best day of the year was my birthday. Not for the obvious reasons, but because we could wear 'normal' clothes to school and I got to show off my 8-year-old style to the world. Fashion was always a way to express my unique self whilst being surrounded by people that seeked conformity. After high school I finally had the chance to express my true self . . . daily. I studied fashion merchandising, marketing and media for 3 years at Fedisa in Cape Town and let me tell you - it was like I was living in The Devil wears Prada film. Studying fashion is not an easy, nor cheap task, so I really had to be sure of what I wanted my future to look like before making the decision to go ahead with my degree. I knew then that my goal has always been to uplift the women around me in my own way - through letting them see their true beauty and the imperfections I see as extraordinary. This goal is very easily achieved when a woman puts on a dress that hugs her in all the right places, or that outfit that turned out even better than it was in your head. Its difficult to explain, but there is something about a girl just loving herself completely and wholeheartedly that could change her life. And in my opinion that journey starts every morning when you open those closet doors.
The Brand
Zu is not just a clothing brand, but a movement that aims to bridge the gap between what we see online and in store. My mission is to make unique style more accessible to South African consumers, because I believe that fashion should be a means of self-expression. When I created Zu, my goal was not simply to make clothes, but to bring a smile to the face of every girl who wears my garments. I have come to realize that fashion is much more than just a physical product; it is a powerful tool that can empower individuals to showcase their true selves. Through the art of styling, I have now expanded my horizons to help people express their authentic identities. Over time, I have learned so much about myself through the choices I make when it comes to my personal style. It is with this knowledge that I am determined to empower others to embrace their own uniqueness and confidently express themselves through their wardrobe choices. Fashion is not just about following trends; it is about creating a personal narrative that communicates who you are and who you aspire to be.
